Sheep are helpless and need a shepherd. A good shepherd cares for his sheep and leads them so that they find pasture. He watches over them and keeps them safe. If they stray, he pursues them and brings them back to the flock. In this psalm, David compares himself to a sheep and God as a good shepherd. Why does David call God his shepherd?
